READ MY STORY

Background
I was trained as a geodesist/land surveyor during a twenty two year military career where I was involved in all aspects of military mapping and positioning. After my military career I retrained in environmental geology geoscience at Reading and Cardiff Universities.
Since then I have been employed in a number of positions where I have utilised and integrated all aspects of my transferable skillset: to provide geo-spatial/geomatics solutions to often complex problems.
I joined the oil and gas industry as a hydrogeologist; however, by working with small combined departments and companies I naturally migrated to petroleum geology roles and positions, while still undertaking management of geomatic and environmental type projects.
Selected Career Highlights
-
40+ years of international experience in geomatics, geodesy, GIS, remote sensing, hydrogeology, petroleum geology, and geotechnical integration with proven technical instructional capabilities.
-
Technically recognised within multiple organisations and repeatedly seconded to support high-value proposals, specialist technical reviews, and multidisciplinary projects.
-
Led geomatics and spatial data support for major oil and gas developments in Iraq, including survey control, ERW mapping, and operational GIS systems.
-
Managed major geodetic control, benchmark, and CRS-related projects, strengthening survey quality and technical assurance across field developments and national primary networks.
-
Delivered multidisciplinary technical leadership spanning well planning, site characterisation, environmental flood and water studies, QA/QC, mentoring, and project improvement.
-
Petroleum geology experience in Northern Iraq: wellsite geology, PETREL modelling, reservoir characterisation, volumetric reassessment, well planning, and development support for heavy oil fields.
The first benefit of investigation is not increased confidence, but the removal of false confidence
